About the project

 

Introduction

We were introduced to the use of the Internet and learned some words like browser, links, and how to search a word/topic in the Internet. Then we practised using the Internet by ourselves. We found a page where the making of a wool suit was shown (from the shearing of sheep to the finished suit). It was interesting to have a first look into the Internet. Furthermore we learned how to save texts and pictures from the Internet.

Getting information

We looked for information for the project in the Internet, in books and magazines. We used the search engine to find useful websites in the net and we downloaded information about the designers. We also found information in special fashion books and magazines we have at school or in the town library.

Layout and design

Everybody in class had to create a layout. We coloured the headline and gave it a characteristic outline and tried to find a visual connection to fashion design. We connected decades and designers in the shape of a flacon to provide an overview of the following pages about designers and decades. After this we chose the best layout. During the development of the texts we corrected details in layout and colours of our pages.

Organisation

We thought about which topics we wanted to work out. The group decided to work on the following aspects: style, (private) life of the designers and description of the collections. Everybody in one group took one of these themes and wrote about it. When everybody had finished his own part we put it all together and prepared the presentation. After that we showed our presentation in front of the class and the teacher.

Presentation

Every group had to present its results. This implied the presentation of every designer. We gave out handouts for our class members, so that they could follow our presentation. We used the completed internet page, which was projected onto the wall with the help of a beamer, to support the presentations.
